NASS DFNS CLASS OF 2026

Richard Vogel, PhD, DABNM
Nervio

Neurophysiologist
NASS Member Since 2015
What is a lesson you learned early in your career that you still carry with you today?
I had formal training in public speaking while in graduate school, and I gave my 1,000th invited lecture last year. That training set me up for future success on the international speaking circuit and helped my career blossom.
What initially inspired you to become involved with NASS, and what has kept you engaged over the years?
I was a new member of NASS in 2017 when I attended a round table discussion at Town Hall held Philadelphia, PA. When NASS President, Dr. Todd Wetzel, asked me what NASS could do for me, I pointed out that “neuromonitoring” turned 40 in 2017 and I wanted to restore the historical collaborations between surgeons and neurophysiologists that had waned. As a result of that meeting, we founded the NASS Neuromonitoring Section in 2018.
What is something your colleagues may be surprised to learn about you?
I’m an improv student and I once waited on Rosa Parks while working as a restaurant server in college.
