Henry Bohlman at Case Western was a master surgeon, an outstanding mentor of mentors and a true gentleman. He taught me to focus on quality care and academic pursuits. He was not rigid, did not conform to the limited knowledge base of his time. He operated on patients in need and created care paths to suit their needs, entering new territory regularly as a fearless leader. He also said that quality will always rise to the top. Bring skill to any market and you will be needed, regardless of saturation.

I believe NASS is the most important society for overall clinical governance of spinal care, and our professional interface with government entities. The multi-disciplinary nature of NASS gives it credibility and allows for educational opportunities emphasizing a more holistic approach to care.

Spinal disorders are ubiquitous and low back pain remains the leading cause of disability worldwide wide. The complexity of care and advancement is the field is extremely humbling and inspiring to me.
